8th Wonder Of the World

The seven wonders of the world, are known as cataloguing the most spectacular sites and structures of the planet. To a certain extent, one can argue with the fact that the wonders of the world are to be natural, and not man made. The list made, only includes man made structures and monuments that strike the eye. The word wonder is defined as “something that arouses awe and astonishment with often no explanation”. Recently, Torres del Paine in the Chilean Patagonia has been voted as the eighth wonder of the world. However, it is one of the most outstanding and isolated natural spectacles the Earth has. When one finds themselves in such landscapes and inspiring natural attributes, wonder is evoked in one’s thought. Immensity and inexplicability makes us innerly reflect, or essentially question existence and creation. Real wonders come from something far superior to anything formerly recognized, they have existed long before the human. Creators of monuments, fabricate fascinating and symbolic sites, but can’t ultimately kindle the concept of wonder in ones mind. Just by the simple fact that important structures have been created by the human race, the potential of the place being wonderful is diminished since it is in the long run possible for us to create. Torres del Paine, is a place where nature is abundant, with features that would never suggest people would inhabit there. Apart from it being isolated from any civilized town or city, it is enclosed and surrounded by the most unique mountains and lakes in the world. The minute someone enters the place, the minuscular human feels insignificant. This place contains a value that very few places in the world hold. The ease of its unknown way of creation, is perceived as the most complicated natural wonder to the human. In the end, it is the places like Torres del Paine that should be named the wonders of the world. I vacationed there, and I knew it was a real wonder because words weren’t enough to describe my awe. I could look at the big picture, the biggest one I’ve seen in my life; places like this can prove how unknowledgable humans can be and how much power the Earth holds over our species, because in the end the real mystery is the man’s existence in this planet with these incomprehensible natural places, which make us wonder and ask why.
